How We Structure Meta Ads Accounts for DTC Brands

Campaigns by objective. Ad sets = one audience test. Weekly creative grid. Exclusions at every level. Median 38% ROAS lift.
Account Structure Overview
We structure Meta accounts around three tiers: prospecting, retargeting, and retention. Each tier has distinct objectives, audiences, and creative strategies.
Prospecting Tier
- Campaigns: One per objective (Sales, Leads)
- Ad Sets: One audience test per ad set (broad, interest stacks, lookalikes)
- Creative: 3-5 concepts tested simultaneously
- Exclusions: All site visitors, purchasers, email subscribers
Retargeting Tier
- 1-day viewers — High intent, frequency capped at 2/week
- 7-day engagers — Video watchers, ad engagers
- 30-day visitors — Broad reminder, lower budget
- Add-to-cart / Initiate checkout — Dynamic product ads, urgency messaging
Retention Tier
Post-purchase campaigns: cross-sell complementary products, loyalty program enrollment, review requests. Frequency capped at 1/week.
Creative Testing Grid
We run a weekly creative grid: 3 new concepts × 3 hook variations = 9 ads per test cycle. Winners graduate to evergreen campaigns; losers are cut. Metrics: hook rate (3-sec view/impression), hold rate (ThruPlay/3-sec), CPA.
Results
Median 38% ROAS lift within 60 days of restructuring. Creative fatigue reduced by systematic testing pipeline.
